Shenandoah Valley United

Shenandoah Valley United, SVU, is a non-profit soccer organization in Harrisonburg, Virginia. SVU is a staple in the Rockingham County community offering soccer programs and recreational leagues for children 5-19.

Objective

Big Idea

The client’s main goal was to restart their Instagram account and create better/clearer communication between players, staff, coaches, and parents. The objective was to create a cohesive Instagram feed that showcased what SVU had to offer as well as the diversity in the organization. Another objective was to create a Tik Tok account with fun videos that showed off skills and practices.

Create cohesive designs that help communicate the values of SVU to the community

Brand Guide

We started with creating a comprehensive brand guide that defines SVU's colors fonts and themes. This helped with creating a cohesive social media presence.

Instagram posts

It was important to create Instagram posts that could resonate with players, parents and coaches. We made sure to use soccer elements as well as the brand colors in every post to keep a cohesive SVU feed.

Tik Toks

One of the highlights of working with SVU was making Tik Toks with the U11 players! We really wanted to show off what happens at SVU practices, diversity, conversations and the skills that these players have. We had three media days at SVU and one of the coolest days we had was when we mic'd up the players to hear their thoughts and conversations throughout the practice as well as filming their skills and celebrations.

SVU Scarf

SVU was also looking for a new soccer-specific merch design that they could order. My team and I came up with the idea of an SVU soccer scarf. I designed the scarf to match the SVU logo utilizing the plaid lines in the background as well as the mountain range to line the bottom. I designed it to be very SVU branded with a logo on each end as well as spelling out Shenandoah Valley United on the scarf so when it is worn at a game it is clear which team it is for.
